Growing An Octopus

To grow an octopus, you first start with a big tub, clear is best for optimal viewing pleasure

Secondly, you need water, cause it's an octopus

Thirdly, you need an inquisitive child to test the water

and to supervise

You need the creature of choice of course

Which do you want to grow Jack?

You need to open the packaging.  How do they breathe in there???

Put your creature in the perfectly prepared water oh so gently

First measurement, very exact, I know

Day two

I love wearing mommy & dada's shoes!

Day three

Hang out and wait...

Day four, I messed up and measured the wrong way so it's not as easy to see the growth, sorry guys.

Day five

Day six, slowing in growth

Day seven.  The octopus was measured each day between 2:30-3pm

Time to release the beast!!!  Sorry for the blurry picture, his expression of glee was just too much not to share.

Ooooh, my own octopus!

Lookit!

His new home when not being carted around the house

Another use for your awesome octopus habitat

And that is how you grow an octopus.

Colville Car Time

Working on the car of his coworkers daughter.  He's getting quite the rep!

Will it help if I bang it?

Tightening the bolts

Dirt shows hard work

Hey Jack, let down the jack

I want to help!

Sooo hot and tired

BUBBLES!!!

Colville full service garage, car wash included with tune up

This was last weekend, I'm quite behind on my picture posts.  I'll work on getting them up this weekend.  Jack has discovered Popeye and is quite the fan.  This has brought a question to my mind that won't be settled.  Why in the world would Bluto & Popeye want Olive Oyl?  She is such a flake!  Why would Olive Oyl want Bluto or Popeye?  They're such immature weenies!  Geeze.  This question made me think about Archie.  Why do Veronica & Betty fight over an arrogant, selfish & downright dorky guy like Archie?  He's a flake too, in fact he's Olive Oyl in male form!  All it takes is Josie or Cheryl to come along and bat her eyes and he drops both of them, just what kind of message does that send?  While I'm on this burning questions rant, why do the Federation uniforms for the women barely cover their butt?  Why are there only 2 women with any continuity on the original Star Trek?  AND why does something bad always happen when Uhura sings?  Can you tell we've been watching a lot of Star Trek?  I'm hooked.  I accept my nerdiness.  Anywho, sorry bout that rant, I've just been wondering.  Hope you all have a lovely weekend.  I'm going to post pictures from our experiment from last week and all the cooking/baking we did today.  Picturespicturespictures!

La Tee Dah

Last weekend

Ewwwwwww, he drooled on me!

Drool monster!!!  (He is totally turning into a ginge)

What conversations they will have...

Contemplative...

We were pretty lazy...

We made homemade chicken & broccoli...

...and watched an American Pickers marathon

Tuckered out.  Carl's going through a sleeping spurt at the moment

Does the boy have rhythm or what???  Music time in the Colville house courtesy of a plastic drum full of instruments.
So, our weekend was pretty boring.  Jack and I have an experiment going, there's still a few days left on it though, maybe by Monday the pictures will be ready to post.
I've figured out why the pictures look so craptastic on here and what I can do to fix them, but it is way too time consuming for me to try.  I'm going to look at some other blog hosting sites and see what I can discover.
We have a new phone number, so if I didn't get in touch with you as far as the new number and you would like it, please email me.  If you don't have my email I guess I don't know you well enough to give you my phone number.
I'm hoping to get back in the swing of things with this here blog.  I got severely dehydrated from our practice on Monday, dizzy & nauseous type of nasty.  So, I haven't been feeling quite up to par.  We had another practice on Thursday night which I prepared for by drinking Gatorade all day and during the practice and after, so far all is good!  I'm really starting to enjoy practice, probably helps that I'm one of the few ladies who actually knows how to throw a ball, swing a bat and hustle.  It should be fun!  We have an, um, interesting team.  :-)  But the point has been made that the league is about fun so that's what I intend to have!
Well, that's all for now, I have correspondence to catch up on.  Gotta get it all ready so that when we can get some stamps all I have to do is slap one on and send them off!  Y'all have a super evening!

6 Years

Six years ago today, Jordan and I went to the Lynchburg City Courthouse and became husband and wife.  Our parents were there to witness us make this commitment to each other.  I'm sure it was tough on them, tough knowing that Jordan was 18 and two months out of high school and I was only 19.  They had to wonder at least a little about us, were we going to make it?  I really can't blame them, especially now that I'm a mother.  How in the world would I react if Jack came to me that young saying he was getting married?  But, here we are, six years and two beautiful sons later and we're as happy as ever.  We've hit some bumps, struggled through some hard times, but we always come through and have been able to keep our sense of humor.  Thank you Mom, Dad, Beth & Tom for your support and for believing in us as a couple.  We're in it for the long haul, no matter what is to come.

Now, 6 years might not seem like a special year mark, so why am I writing about it?  Cause it's the Sugar/Candy anniversary!  Since our first year Jordan & I have used the traditional/modern list of anniversary gifts as our gift guide.  For example, on our first anniversary (paper/clocks) Jordan got me a Spongebob Monopoly and I got him a journal.  On our third (leather/crystal) I got Jordan a leather frame and he got me a crystal figurine.  And then for this year, (candy/wood) I got Jordan a M&M canister with the peanut M&M on it and some peanut M&M's and he got me a cupcake pillow and all my favorite candies!  I'm really not a big jewelry wearer and Jordan's tough to buy for anyway, so this method of gift giving has worked quite well for us over the years. We have also always been rather tight around our anniversary, not sure why but it sure gets those creative juices flowing!  Our friend Kaye is going to watch the boys tomorrow (she just got engaged to our friend Pete a couple days ago, speaking of marriages) and Jordan & I are going to have a sushi lunch and then watch Harry Potter courtesy of the money from selling my old punching bag.  Whoo!  Anywho, here are some pictures from our courthouse wedding.

This was taken before we became Mr. & Mrs.

Geeze, we look young

We went out to lunch with our moms afterward and they told our waitress that we had just gotten married and could they bring something out.  So they brought us a sundae!

I was hoping to get a better picture, but this will do for now.  I think these are two pretty nice accomplishments.  :-)  Like our family dog?

Picturific!

Would be a nice picture if Jack would stop trying to sabotage it.  Every time, just before Jordan took the picture, Jack would raise his cup.

It's really hard to make a baby look where you want him to

I told Jack to lay on his belly like we were and he took that to mean he needed to show us his belly.  :-)

Jack is a little jealous...

I really like Carl's expression here

Butte

I've decided that I want to move to Butte, Montana.  It's been in the 80's there during the day and the mid 40's at night.  Memphis has been 100-110 during the day and in the mid 80's at night.  I've always wanted to live in Montana, doesn't have to be Butte.  I want 1,000 acres and I want to build a house right in the middle of it so there aren't any neighbors.  Ahhhh, such quiet and privacy there would be!  Except for the goats, ducks, sheep, dogs, cats and whatever other animals we decide we want.  Now I just need to win the lottery and we'll be all set!

This weather is getting to all of us, as I'm sure it's getting to you guys too.  Jack wants to play outside so badly, but it's already 84 here at 8am with the high expected to be 104, a little too warm for little boys to be outside, though our practice on Monday was in 98 degree weather.  Jack was soaked and the seat of Carl's stroller had a big ol wet mark from where his body was.  I apparently didn't drink enough water and got dehydrated and spent most of yesterday with a migraine.  I'm proud that I made it through the day with no harm to my children from my brain fogginess and general having a hard time opening my eyes much less walking.  I suppose as a mom you figure out a way to get what needs done, done.

Nonetheless, there was no craft yesterday.  I'm sorry to say that Jack spent most of the day watching tv.  Ah well, he is learning words from it.  Not sure what we're going to get in to today.  Guess we'll see what strikes our fancy.

Practice went well.  It's quite a hodge podge of people, many have obviously never played softball before.  One lady still had the sticker on her glove and was learning to throw.  I didn't embarrass myself too bad.  I did miss a pop up that I really should have gotten, I was on second base though and I'm really not an infielder.  I did hit every ball that was thrown at me when I batted, that was nice.  :-)  They use two balls in this league, a slightly smaller one for the women, the pitcher kept forgetting though.  My arm hurts something fierce, hopefully it'll get used to the throwing motion again.  I think this is going to be fun, looks like most of the players just want to have fun.  Of course there's one guy, the one who's on every recreational team, the one who takes it super serious and is always talking big and telling everyone what to do even though he's not the coach and running for a ball that is totally in your space and you are more than capable of catching.  He keeps it up I might have to throw a "wild" ball that accidentally hits him.  Nawww, I wouldn't do that, would I?

Jack has started getting on up in the mornings once he hears me up and opening his door and going "mama?".  If his gate is unlatched he walks on out, if not he just stands there "mama?mama?mama?".  Guess him staying in his bed until we came and got him was bound to end sometime.  I've been getting on up in the mornings when Jordan gets back from his run and making breakfast for the three of us and we all eat together.  I think it's a good start to all of our day, a little bit of quiet family time.  Carl is usually still sleeping, he would be mighty jealous if he saw us all eating real food while he just got milk!  It would not be a good start to his day...

Wearing Dada's shoes

I like the brush falling, not sure why.  He was brushing his teeth with it before the drop.
I figured out why the pictures have been pixely.  It's not my camera but something that other Blogger blogs have been having trouble with too.  Soooo, it's Bloggers dealio.  Hopefully they fix it soon.  Anywho, hope you all have a lovely day, stay cool!
